"My love of jazz has been a longstanding affair; since a young age I have admired the greats: Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone, Anita O'Day, and have taken inspiration from them. I have grown particularly fond of a number of contemporary singers, including Alice Russell and Jacqui Dankworth."
aboutOften likened to Ella Fitzgerald, Clara takes inspiration from the greats as well as contemporary vocalists including Liane Carroll and Clare Teal. Known for her clear and expressive tone, she performs with emotion and a touch of drama, bringing the music of the American Songbook to life.
Clara studied music at Bath Spa University specialising in jazz voice, and over the past ten years has performed in many venues in Bath including Green Park Brasserie, Moles, The Holburne Museum and Bath Abbey. She regularly appears as a guest vocalist in the popular 20th Century Foxes Cabaret events at Chapel Arts. As well as singing with her jazz band, featuring local musicians including Jon Green, Duncan Kingston, Dan Reid, Ben Vlemincx, Daan Temmink, Martin Jenkins, Pasquale Votino and Dale Hambridge, Clara is a classical soloist, performing with Cantamus Chamber Choir and Freshford Singers.
